Our

Territory

Our vineyards stretch out over the best-suited hillsides and slopes in the Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG production zone; 34.5 hectares all owned by our family.

All of them are located in the province of Treviso in the hamlets of Saccol (Valdobbiadene), San Pietro di Feletto, Solighetto, Collalto and Farra di Soligo. The cellar instead is located in Colbertaldo di Vidor. Amongst our vineyards, two are worthy of particular attention: the first, in Solighetto di Pieve di Soligo, is a monument to the history of our grape variety, the glera.

It belonged to the Count Marco Giulio Balbi Valier who, by making the first selection of varieties, succeeded in isolating the Prosecco Balbi, the clone of the grape variety on which even today the production of the entire territory of Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG is founded.

The second, the “Col del Sas” vineyard, is the symbol of the history of our family; indeed, this is where our brand name originated, representing the resolute bond between our family and the land: SPAGNOL COL DEL SAS

Superiore di Cartizze DOCG

A sub-zone of 107 hectares

Cartizze is the ultimate quality of this denomination, the production of which takes place between the steepest hillsides of San Pietro di Barbozza, Santo Stefano and Saccol, in the town of Valdobbiadene. This wine is the result of a perfect combination between a mild micro-climate and age-old soils.

Conegliano Valdobbiadene Rive DOCG

43 Rive

In the local dialect, the term “rive” indicates the slopes of the steep hillsides typical of this territory. This type of wine highlights the different expressions of Conegliano Valdobbiadene. Rive is often obtained from the steepest vineyards dedicated to grapes originating in a single town or a hamlet of the same, to exalt the characteristics that our territory bestows on the wine. In the denomination there are 43 rive, and each one of them expresses a different combination of soil, exposure, and micro-climate. The Rive production is limited, the grapes are harvested exclusively by hand, and the vintage is indicated on the label.

Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG

15 Comuni

Conegliano Valdobbiadene is a spumante DOCG produced exclusively in the hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene, starting with the glera grape variety. The denomination, comprising 15 towns, takes its name from the two main cities of this territory: Conegliano, the cultural centre, where the first Oenological School of Italy is located, and Valdobbiadene, the heart of production in this territory, with its extraordinary vocation and unique beauty, bound together by rows of vineyards. The grapes come from various micro-zones, and with them each cellar creates the cuvèe that becomes the ambassador of its own unique philosophy.
